I have no idea what this crap is which just decided to appear on day whenever I run unix commands within my OSX terminal. As it turns out, the simplest solution is just to install XCode and the problem magically vanishes.

The original error message was 
dyld: shared cached file was build against a different libSystem.dylib, ignoring cache
